Welcome to Estes Bros. Construction, Inc., a family-owned company incorporated in 1985 and based out of Jonesville, VA. We are primarily focused on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, and water and sewer projects for various government agencies. At Estes Bros., we take great pride in our ability to stay at the forefront of the latest innovations in the construction industry. We believe we have proven our ability to adapt to innovative construction practices and execute them to the highest level.
Our success in the construction industry is evident in the number of transportation projects we have successfully completed. In the last eight years alone, we have delivered more than $90M worth of transportation projects for the Federal Highway Administration. We have completed 15 projects for EFLHD over the past ten years, serving as the prime contractor on projects at various national parks, including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, Jefferson National Forest, George Washington National Forest, Natchez Trace Parkway, and Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. These projects ranged from $2M to over $60M in value.
At Estes Bros., we understand the challenges of working in remote locations on linear paving projects in sensitive environments. However, through the successful completion of these projects, we have developed a strong partnership with EFLHD and the National Park Service (NPS). Our ability to deliver projects on time with minimal impact to park visitors is a testament to our experience and cooperative spirit.
We take great pride in completing projects ahead of schedule while ensuring the highest quality standards and minimizing the impact on park visitors. Our team constructs a preliminary schedule and allocates resources to ensure that we exceed our expectations and complete the project on time.
Our History
Our story begins in 1961 when Robert Estes, Luther Roy Estes, and Claude King bought a new Ford 4000 Select-o-Speed backhoe and formed a partnership called "Estes and King." However, after a year with little work, King returned to the railroad, and the Estes brothers continued to operate the business.
In 1963, a major flood hit the region, and federal aid money poured in to repair the damage. The Estes Bros saw an opportunity to use their backhoe to fix the damaged St. Charles school sewer lines and ball fields. This project allowed them to pay off their backhoe and expand their equipment fleet.
By 1966, the Estes Bros had become a licensed general contractor and were awarded a contract to build the Cedar Hill Golf Course.
In 1981, the company became bonded to bid on state projects. Robert Estes put up his farm as collateral to secure the bond.
In 1985, Estes Bros. Const., Inc. was officially incorporated.
In the following years, our company continued to grow and evolve.
In the late 1980s, Greg joined the team, bringing his own unique skills and expertise.
And in 2014, Austin graduated from the University of Kentucky and joined the family business full time, ensuring that our legacy of quality and innovation will continue for generations to come.
Robert Estes is the visionary founder of Estes Bros. Despite humble beginnings, he remained dedicated to his vision and worked tirelessly to build a thriving company that is still going strong after 60 years. In addition to his business success, Robert has built a wonderful family with his wife Julaine, and is the proud grandfather of 5 and great-grandfather of 1. When not at work, Robert enjoys pursuing his passions, which include off-roading in his jeep, farming exotic wildlife, and flying his drone.
Greg Estes is the President of Estes Bros. He started working for the company during summers at the young age of 13, following in the footsteps of his father, Robert. Greg is proud to continue building on the foundation that his dad started and working alongside his family. When he's not at work, Greg enjoys spending time with his wife Julie, their two children Parker and Luke, and their eight dogs. He's also passionate about racing and can often be found behind the wheel of his race car.
Austin Glass is the Vice President of Estes Bros. With a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky, Austin started working in the family business at an early age, spending time with his grandfather Robert on bulldozer ride-alongs. By the age of 5, he was already operating equipment independently. Even during his preschool years, Austin was already dedicated to construction work, telling his teacher that he couldn't come back the next day because of his job. After graduating in 2014, Austin joined the company full time and has since been an integral part of the team. When not at work, Austin enjoys spending time with his wife Tressa and their daughter Collins, tending to the farm on his tractor, or working on his race car.
